Manhattan Concert Productions (MCP) presents the 9th installment of its beloved BROADWAY SERIES with the critically acclaimed musical Children of Eden. This concert performance will feature a chorus of over 200 singers from across the United States, a stunning professional cast and creative team, and the outstanding New York City Chamber Orchestra.
An all-star cast is led by Tony nominee and Broadway favorite Norm Lewis (Les Misérables, Porgy and Bess) as the wise and loving Father. Joining Lewis is Nikki Renée Daniels (Company, Porgy and Bess) as Eve/Mama Noah, David Phelps (Gaither Vocal Band) as Adam, Donald Webber Jr. (Hamilton, Purlie Victorious) as Cain/Japheth, Lucas Pastrana (Elvis—A Musical Revolution), and Auli’i Cravalho (Moana, The Little Mermaid) as Yonah.
Broadway veterans Tony Yazbeck (Stage Director & Lead Choreographer) and Kimberly Grigsby (Music Director) join up to lead the cast and creative team in this stellar concert performance.
Children of Eden joins MCP’s previous Broadway Series concert performances, which include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2020), The Scarlet Pimpernel (2019), Broadway Classics in Concert (2018), Crazy for You (2017), The Secret Garden (2016), Parade (2015), Titanic (2014), The Hunchback of Notre Dame workshop (2014), Broadway Classics in Concert (2013), and Ragtime (2013).
With music by Stephen Schwartz and lyrics and book by John Caird, Children of Eden paints a compelling portrait of the age-old relationship between parents and children, drawing inspiration from the Book of Genesis. Audiences will journey from the Garden of Eden to Noah's Ark, witnessing the joys and challenges of creation and the power of choice and sacrifice. This musical is a heartfelt exploration of the unique bonds that join families together, and is one of the most frequently licensed properties by Music Theater International.
