Don't miss an evening of renowned choral works with the National Children's Festival Chorus and the National Festival Chorus under the dynamic leadership of Emily Ellsworth and René Clausen on Monday evening, June 24 at 7pm at Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago in Chicago! 

Conductor Emily Ellsworth will lead the National Children’s Festival Chorus in an array of choral anthems including Mendelssohn’s “Lift Thine Eyes” from Elijah, Antognini’s “Kyrie Eleison”, “Come Dance and Sing” (Shaker song), and more.

Nationally recognized as a leader in the field of youth chorus directors, Ms. Ellsworth has served as Artistic Director of Anima – Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus since 1996. Under her direction, Anima has won several national awards, including the 2013 ASCAP award for Adventurous Programming from Chorus America. She has prepared various ensembles within Anima for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Bach Project, Grant Park Symphony, the Berlin Philharmonic, Ravinia Festival, Music of the Baroque, Chicago Sinfonietta, and many others.

The concert will also feature the National Children's Festival Chorus, led by René Clausen featuring an exciting array of choral works. René Clausen is professor of music at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and has served as conductor of The Concordia Choir since 1986. He is the artistic director of the Emmy award-winning Concordia Christmas Concerts, which are frequently featured by PBS stations throughout the nation. Clausen is a renowned composer and arranger, having written more than 100 commissioned compositions for organizations such as The King’s Singers, Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the American Choral Directors Association. Life and Breath: Choral Works by René Clausen, a 13-track recording of compositions by Clausen sung by the Kansas City Chorale won two Grammy® Awards in 2013, including Best Choral Performance.
