Each ensemble is to wear their typical concert attire from home. This way we can see all of the ensembles that have been brought together to create the larger chorus. If your group does not have uniform concert attire, we require semi-formal / formal concert black.
All singers should wear comfortable black shoes. Singers will be standing while on stage and may encounter stairs backstage. Please emphasize this to your singers who may want to wear high heels or brand new shoes.
-
It is recommended that singers arrive 15 minutes early to each rehearsal, and bring their own music and a pencil. Singers should bring a water bottle and a snack to each rehearsal. There will be places to refill water and use the restroom during rehearsal breaks.
Cell phones should not be in use during rehearsal. Please have them off or on silent and placed under a chair.
Music is not expected to be memorized, however, we absolutely expect that the music be fully prepared prior to the first rehearsal. Please have all music in a black folder/three-ring binder for the performance.
-
During the residency, there will be a meeting for directors and group leaders with MCP staff at the start of your second rehearsal to review concert day logistics and any other questions that have come up throughout the weekend. This is also a great chance for you to meet and “talk shop” with the other ensemble leaders. This meeting is mandatory for directors and will take place in the hotel, just outside of the rehearsal room or in a nearby conference room.
-
Your ensemble will be seated in the audience to watch the portions of the concert in which they are not performing.
It goes without saying that we expect the utmost professionalism from our guests who will be watching the concert. Any behavior that is seen as disruptive will not be permitted.

Tickets will go on sale 60 days prior to the concert. You will receive a ticket letter containing instructions on how to purchase tickets, as well as a discount code that you can forward to any interested friends and family. Tickets are sold directly through the Carnegie Hall Box Office. Tickets range in price from $20-$110. All registered Non-Performers will receive a Premium $110 ticket.
-
Your chorus’ exact sound check time will be communicated once we have received approval from Carnegie Hall on the day schedule - about 60 days in advance. A small number of necessary non-performers from each participating ensemble will be allowed to attend and observe the soundcheck.
-
The hotel does not assume specific placement of sleeping rooms for groups - do not expect to be on the same floor. As NYC is a vertical city, there are many floors but a smaller number of rooms on each. Your sleeping rooms will be scattered through different floors of the hotel. Elevators are speedy so getting between different floors is quick. Please know, any special requests for room placement will delay check in.
