MCP presents Solidarity in Troubled Times at world-renowned Carnegie Hall with Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, as well a selection of choral classics at legendary Carnegie Hall! Performed by the Masterwork Festival Chorus, professional soloists, and the New York City Chamber Orchestra, and guest conductor Gary Seighman.

Hailed as Haydn’s overall greatest masterpiece, his riveting Lord Nelson Mass (“Mass for troubled times”), from its terrifying opening movement of confusion to its overall joyful transformation, the mood drastically shifts between movements, ending with a beautiful and peaceful setting of “Agnus Dei.”

Composer and guest conductor Z. Randall Stroope will lead the National Festival Chorus in a riveting selection of choral works including Ešenvalds’ “...to music and infinity” from Trinity Te Deum, Brahms’ “Brauner Bursche” from Zigeunerleben, Op. 103, Handel’s “...of the longing and desire” from As Pants the Hart (Chandos Anthem no. 6), and more. The National Children’s Festival Chorus will also perform an array of choral works including Handel’s “O Lovely Peace” from Judas Maccabeus, Antognini’s “Kyrie Eleison,” the Shaker Song “Come Dance and Sing,” among others, led by guest conductor Emily Ellsworth.

The evening will also feature a debut performance from Trinity University Chamber Singers, led by director Gary Seighman.
