Robyn Lana

Robyn Reeves Lana is the Founder, Managing Artistic Director and Conductor of the award winning Cincinnati Children’s Choir (CCC), Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).  At CCM, she sponsors undergraduate interns with the children’s choir and mentors graduate choral conducting students.  Under her leadership, CCC has received the Scripps-Corbett Award, Artistic and earned a gold medal in the World Choir Games 2012.

Regularly serving as a guest conductor and clinician, she has directed international, state and regional honor and festival choirs, including Florida (2014), Kentucky, Indiana, Minnesota (2013) Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, ACDA Southern Division Honor Choir in 2012 and at Carnegie Hall in 2013.  She is a founding co-director of the Coastal Song Children’s Choir Festival, an annual national festival held in Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC.  Her choirs have performed for State, Regional, and National professional development conferences. She has presented workshops for the World Choir Games 2012, Music Educators National Conference regional conventions, Chamber Music America National Convention, Ohio and Indiana Music Educators Associations, Tennessee MEA, Mississippi MEA, Northeast Ohio Education Association, Orff Schulwerk workshops and regionally at colleges and universities. Level III Orff-Schulwerk certified, she has taught general music, in public and private schools.

Mrs. Lana regularly prepares her choirs for performance with the Cincinnati Symphony, the Cincinnati Pops, the Cincinnati May Festival, and CCM choirs and orchestras.  She has also prepared her singers to perform with a Broadway touring company and regularly prepares them for performance with the CCM Opera Division.  In addition to preparing CCC for compact disc releases and regularly recording concerts, Mrs. Lana has prepared them for two Telarc label recordings with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Erich Kunzel and two national recordings for Earthsongs Publications.

Lana has published articles in the Choral Journal, Choristers Guild’s The Chorister, and Chamber Music America’s CMA Matters.  She served as an ACDA representative for the 2012 World Choir Games Music Advisory Committee and is presently serving ACDA as National Chair for Children’s and Community Youth Choir Repertoire and Standards. In her work for ACDA, she led the national committee into new ways to serve membership by presenting a retreat for children’s and community youth choir directors.  The event, organized three times under Lana, is now a biennial conference offered by ACDA.  Mrs. Lana is also a member of Chorus America, MENC, AOSA, and IFCM.

She earned both Bachelor and Master degrees in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. With a focus in Choral Conducting, Mrs. Lana earned a Cognate in Voice and has done post-graduate work with Henry Leck at Butler University.
